Exactly. We all use it. Can't really be bothered repeating everything again but I'm more or less asking for a little change in the rules to accept that people generally swear. I'm not calling for World War 3, I'm asking for an update to outdated rules.

We are in their house we PAID to be there we have our oppinions just like when people said Ursan was overpowered. If they make a rule that make it so you cant have more than 1 ecto on you account at 1 time or you're banned no1 would be like WELL IT IS THEIR HOUSE. Why? There is no need to change the rules. Just don't swear in Guildwars. If you must use foul language then just say it out loud. It takes EXTRA effort to type it.

Think about it, this isn't some biker bar, young kids play this game also, even though they are barely younger than you. There is a difference between simple foul language and harassment. I wouldn't hesitate to report someone who is for example spouting racial epithets.

Sigh, I think this will be my last post on this. Quite frankly, most of you seem to be too retarded to get what I'm trying to put across. The few who get it such as Kumu come back to the same point, which I agree, It needs a zero tolerance policy just because people aren't mature enough to not abuse it if the feature was removed. I was just keeping it alive to see if any other ideas could come out of it.

I have never been banned from Guild Wars for Verbal Abuse, nor will I be in the future because I do indeed know when to hold my tongue. Most of this was just at the outrage of my friends position and mine today over the CoF run. I can understand why it's hard for people not in my position to full get what I'm trying to say, but It would be great if you could at least read replies to common questions mostly asked on the first page before giving your opinion.

people won't actively report another if they're not actively cussing at others
i've seen people cus of a nerf in town or cus at others, there's a difference between those two and support will still know when to ban someone or not when they have been reported for verbal abuse

I don't even get why swearing is offensive. Seriously, I just don't get it.... Flame me all you like, but I truly do not understand why society decides that a word is or is not appropriate. Jesus, a few years ago saying 'shut up' was considered swearing.

Anyway, I agree with the OP that you should be able to swear if you feel like it. Abusing someone is different to swearing. Abuse should not be tolerated, language on the other hand should not be censored. It's language, and in most democratic nations free speech is all part of it.

I will exercise my right of speech and use whatever language I damn well please.

Seriously, how are any of those words offensive? It's context. A word alone has no inherrent offence. If you don't use them abusively there is NO reason why the words themselves should be banned. True some words are 'cruder' than others, but crudeness and rudeness are not in tandem.

@OP - It is true you do have free speech.... but Anet owns GuildWars and they govern what's right and wrong.

Anet tries to make GuildWars friendly to age 13+ across cultures, and diverse populations. Just because you don't find it offensive, others do.

I don't see where the verbal abuse reporting option says anything about someone cussing.

It is there for when some immature a-hole wants to [barrage] another player/players and instigate an arguement for the sake of getting his/her rocks off. Or for when someone wants to start with some racist nazi bullshit on race supremecy.

If Anet looks at the chat logs and decides what you have said is breaking the ToA then they will take action. Know what is acceptable by the rules that you agreed to when you installed the game and you should be fine. End of story.
